Mark Wonser's Ferrari F-355

Below is an extract from Marks's kit car build diary - to read more, please visit his web site.

Suspension

Because this car is lowered so much the bump stop has to be modified. Some people just cut the rubber off which gives the necessary clearance. The problem is that the bump stop is there to protect the shock from bottoming out.

I decided to modify the stop so it will give me the clearance and still protect the shock. To do this I removed the spring and moved the suspension through its travel. After measuring the travel and the shock stroke I determined that I could remove 5/8" from the stop and still be OK.

The Body

The body is a standard 355 kit. The one difference I like is the headlights mount to the underside of the hood using stock Fiero parts.

The body went on pretty easily. The hood didn't fit just right so I had to cut the lip of the nose and re glass it in to fit. The door jams were also a little off and needed some work. Other than that it went on pretty easily.

Here it is. Finally finished at the Fiero Fanatics Dells run in Wisconsin Dells.
The color is called Rossa Fiorana Metalizzato.
