Below is an extract from Marks' kit car build diary - to read more, please visit his web site. "Could I build a Robin Hood? Good question... although I'm still not sure about the answer. According to the Robin Hood Kit Cars brochure I should be ok I have in the past replaced brake pads, changed oil and checked a car over for it's m.o.t. (it did unfortunately fail). I think a moment of madness came over me when I decided to build a kit car, it's something I've always fancied doing but have always known that I lack the merchanical knowledge other builders have. I chose the Robin Hood Super Spec because all the bits are supplied, there's no need for a donor car and all the parts are brand new except for the rear axle which needs to be reconditioned. I also thought the video instructions were going to be detailed and geared more to the novice builder.... I nearly broke down when I watched them for the first time. (very funny though!)" |

"This is the start of my pictorial build diary. I will hopefully add buttons down the left every 2-3 months so that you can see how slowly I'm progressing. Due to a full-time job, a 2yr old daughter, a 'wife' (slave driver) and producing marketing literature for 3 Leisure Centre's in the evening means I only get Sunday mornings to build the car. Below shows what I have managed to do during May & June including the collection day. So far so good. Unfortunately, from now on, the build will slow down rapidly. As you can see from the pics below, my car has really taken shape, it actually looks like a car!!! But... and it's a big BUT... it still hasn't got a handbrake, brakes pipes, electrics or any hoses etc for the engine. I'm hoping to fit the handbrake and brake pipes over the winters months as my confidence has grown and it's something I think I can do by myself (GULP!)" |
