So why did I choose to build a Pembleton?

I have always wanted to build a kit car, right from when I was 17 and doing unscrupulous things to Mk II Escorts, but what with education, career and then family the time and/or the facilities weren't right.

I dipped my toe in the water with the Leader and that was a learning exercise, what I mainly realised
was that:

a) Working on something that was built by some other individual is not fun as you don't know the rules
they followed. I almost totally rebuilt the car and still wasn't satisfied

b) When you get into the LSIS (Lotus Seven Inspired Sportscar) arena, there is a pressure to make it
faster, more powerful, better handling. I am not prepared to have huge amounts of capital tied up in
the garage on something that is totally selfish, and then spend ever more to "keep up with the Jones'
". That is as much my fault as anyone else as I want to be the best.

c) I'm not Schumacher, however much I pretend to be.

d) I see little enough of my family with my job, I want a car I can have them all in

Despite this, I was set on having a DareTG, I all but wrote the cheque out twice, the only thing that
held me back was the cost - a nice one was going to be £10K or more if I was honest with myself.

So I thought again. I love the shape of the Sylva Phoenix, it is soooo sexy, and again I nearly wrote
that cheque out.

If you've been paying attention, you will have noticed these are all sportcars. In the meantime I had
considered having a classic and rebuilding it, but my head was always screaming "noooooooo". And so
when I saw the Pembleton Brooklands, it just did it for me. No it doesn't have the family seats, but
then it is less tied up capital, so if it doesn't get used as much it is less important.

More to the point, it satisfies my head AND my heart.
